Dani Alves: I'd sign Ronaldo in a heartbeat

Barcelona full-back Dani Alves says that if he were a club president he would like to buy Cristiano Ronaldo, while the Brazilian also praised the abilities of Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho - though questioned his handling of international team-mate Kaka.

Portugal winger Ronaldo has not been in the best of form recently, and has received criticism in Spain for his public demonstrations of "sadness", but in a wide-ranging interview on Brazilian TV channel Esporte Interativo on Monday, Alves said he would bring the Portuguese international to his club.
"If I were in charge of a club, I would like to have Cristiano in my team," Alves said. "Nobody is perfect, but I like Cristiano Ronaldo a lot. Everyone has their own ways, I do not criticise that, as for many people my ways are not right either."
Alves, 29, said however that Messi remained well ahead of Ronaldo as the best player in the world at the moment.
"Messi is everything they say and much more," he said. "He is a very shy kid with a strong personality, a friend of his friends, homely. I have the honour of having him as a friend. At the moment there is Messi, and then the other players."
The Brazil international said that he respected Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, as the coach's ex-players appreciated what he did for them.
"I admire Mourinho in many things, because people speak well of him," he said. "His way of talking is not mine, but if everyone speaks well of him there will be a reason."
Alves was however critical of the treatment meted out to his international team-mate Kaka by Madrid, saying that he would leave a club which did not give him an opportunity to play football.
"If I was Kaka I would not have stayed there," he said. "I love football, if they took it away from me it would not make sense to me. I feel very sad for him. I would not like to go through what is happening to him, because Kaka won respect but he is losing that now.
"They need to have respect for one of the best players in the world. That situation would not happen at Barcelona."
Alves said that former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola could easily take charge of the Brazilian national team at some point.
"Guardiola told you 'do what I say and we will win'," Alves said. "For that I admire him so much. He is capable of convincing you of the road to take to be able to win. With all respect to the coaches in Brazil, but from having worked with him, he could take charge of the Brazil team, or of any national team. After managing Barcelona, with all you learn, he could take over any team in the world."
The Blaugrana player spoke of the importance of consistency for his game, remembering that Joaquin Caparros (his coach at Sevilla, who is now at Real Mallorca) had always stressed the importance of maintaining a good level throughout the season, not just playing exceptionally well now and then.
"You win a place in the national team by maintaining a consistent level of form," he said. "I always stick to what I was told by Caparros, my first coach in Europe - I do not want a 10, a 5, a 9, a 6... I want you to give me a seven all year."

SAMSUNG Galaxy Note 7 WOES

SAMSUNG WOES BIGGER THAN NOTE 7 CRISIS Samsung’s Note 7 recall is a giant, expensive mess. The cost of the recall will reach over $1 billion , and a further $5 billion  could be lost. But Samsung has $23 billion in cash . It can deal with any losses generated by the Note 7 fiasco. The situation is bad, but Samsung can fix it.        What Samsung  cannot  easily fix is the recall’s effect on how the public see its smartphones, and that is arguably the biggest challenge that the company is facing right now. Take the case of the 6-year boy from New York who suffered injuries when a Samsung phone “exploded” in his hands. In the rush to put the news out, media assumed that the phone  must be a   Note 7 , because that’s the phone that Samsung is recalling and that’s what everyone’s talking about. But until a couple of days ago , it was revealed that the phone was...
